Pipeline Soccer League - Pipeline Soccer TeamWhile the 2014 World Cup is in full swing and everyone seems to be catching the fever, Pipeline Brickell has been embracing futbol for quite some time with members playing in their own soccer league.

Leading the team’s formation was Matteo De Lise, an Italian executive who heads design firm Pininfarina in Miami.  Through the game of soccer, Matteo is bringing together members from diverse cultural backgrounds who share a passion for the global sport and those who are interested in learning to play it more.

Pipeline has also been broadcasting every World Cup game, bringing the watch party to the office to ensure everyone gets a chance to watch and root on their favorite national teams. Check out here some great photos captured by The Miami Herald.

It was only a year ago when Matteo joined the Pipeline shared workspace to grow Pininfarina’s presence in the US market. The design firm designs everything from fast Italian cars like Ferrari to condo towers like 1100 Millecento right here in Brickell.

Matteo says the collaborative environment made it easy for him to reach out to members, as he set out to create the soccer team. “I knew if I started the fire, something would happen.”

He was right. Today, the soccer team plays regularly every Wednesday at 444 Brickell Ave., a roof top soccer field where locals play.

Although for the next couple of days, if there is a World Cup game on, they’ll watch it at the Pipeline café before throwing on their jerseys and heading out to the field.WC Watch Party 2
